 Lambeth stretches from the river front at Waterloo to Crystal Palace in the South, and was the scene of the Brixton riots in 1981. Despite large government led regeneration programs, it remains one of London's most deprived areas, and has a high level of associated crime. Brixton is, however, an exciting and cosmopolitan place to live and is home to some of London's best night-clubs, The Mass, The Fridge, Dogstar and Brixton Academy are places you should visit if you fancy a good boogy and a great night out. Clapham is rapidly displacing Fulham as the most respectable place for young urban professionals to live and the huge Common and handy bars and eating venues are extremely popular. Check out the free flicks on giant screens in summer and the 'cafe on the common' in the middle of Clapham Common for some wholesome, vege grub in eclectic surroundings.
