Wandsworth

SW8 SW11 SW12 SW17 SW18 SW19

Thatcher's flagship still boasts the country's lowest council tax, and gentrification has spread to all parts of the borough, leaving the once downtrodden Battersea as an extension of Chelsea. It is still possible to find good value in parts of Balham and Tooting but not in Battersea and those areas closer to the Thames. The major drawback of living in Wandsworth are the poor transport links, and lack of underground line and cabbies who won't take you 'South of the river' after a particular time but the many large outdoor spaces are lovely including Battersea Park, Wandsworth Common and Richmond Park where deer munch happily on the many miles of grass. Old Wandsworth town has lots of great little restaurants and a few of the high St favourites like the Slug and Lettuce and Pizza Express and St John's Hill also has lots of popular and comfortable bars.
